Benedictine Sisters of Bethany

Introduction to the community

The Benedictine Sisters of Bethany were founded by Sister Jane Mankaa in June 2002. The sisters operate the Good Shepherd Home, an orphanage that is in two locations: Bamenda and Batibo North West Region. These two homes have over 150 orphan children ranging between the ages of 0 to 18 years. The Homes operate farms, bakery, agriculture, fish farming, chicken farm and crafts as a source of self-sustainability.

The Sisters follow the Benedictine Rule of life. Our Community has a companionship with the Community of St John the Baptist, an Episcopal sisterhood in the USA.
