Anglican Order of Preachers

Introduction to the community

The Anglican Dominicans are a dispersed order of friars and sisters, celibate and married, lay and ordained, throughout the Anglican Communion that are committed to a lifestyle of apostolic proclamation and contemplative spirituality. They practice the historic four pillars of Dominican Life: Prayer, Community, Study, and Preaching. Members take vows of simplicity, purity, and obedience. All members are trained as pulpit preacher but embrace the broader sense of Dominican proclamation to include teaching the faith and sharing the faith in a wide range of settings. They seek to “Praise, To Bless, to Preach the Word of God” and to “Contemplate and to share with others the fruits of contemplation.”
