Introduction to the community
As a small Community, we have the God given opportunity to recognise the diverse gifts and callings of each individual. Returning to the charism of our Founder, we believe that God calls us to be channels of love to those in need, however the Spirit may lead us.
We decided after much prayer and consultation with our Chaplain and our Trustees to put the Oxford site on the market after working there for more than 140 years. We felt called to return to our roots in London and now have a house there where 2 Sisters live, not far from St Mary’s Nursing Home in Chiswick where our oldest Sister receives care. One Sister lives in a Clergy Retirement complex in West Sussex and has an interesting ministry in the area. Another older Sister has moved to Herefordshire to be closer to her family.
We now have the freedom to take an active part in the life of the parishes where we live and the wider church community. This includes preaching, ministry and spiritual accompaniment.
We continue to support Helen and Douglas House, hospice for children and the Porch , a centre for adults who are homeless or vulnerably housed, both of which were founded in Oxford by the Sisters , and to be involved where we can.
The heart of our life as a religious community is the worship of God in the Daily Office and Eucharist and our personal commitment to prayer and spiritual reading.
God renews our calling day by day, both as a Community and as individuals and we welcome any who are discerning God’s will for them.
