Introduction to the community
The Community started in 1982 with eight members who broke away from the Community of the Holy Name (Chita Che Zita Rinoyera).
Part of this Community then broke away to found another independent CHT community at St Francis Mission, Nhema, Shurugwi, in the Diocese of Masvingo.
The Community is self-reliant, most of its income coming from land tillage, gardening and poultry. The Community takes care of vulnerable children who are victims of economic challenges and AIDS/HIV pandemic in Zimbabwe. Members of the community whose education is low are sent to school with the hope that they will be breadwinners tomorrow. The Community also assists in the evangelistic work of the church, giving counselling to the bereaved and the sick. Feast day of the Community is the 6th of August every year which starts with two days’ retreat.
