Introduction to the community
The Community of Celebration is a life-vowed, contemporary residential community whose roots stretch back to the renewal of the Church of the Redeemer, Houston, Texas, in the 1960s. Today the Community resides in Aliquippa (near Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania. Members are women and men, single and married, adults and children, lay and ordained. Following the Rule of St Benedict, members live a rhythm of prayer, work, study, and recreation.
Our ministry is to be a Christian presence among the poor, responding to the needs around us by offering safe, affordable housing; serving with neighborhood organizations concerned with the revitalization of Aliquippa, and providing hospitality, retreats, sabbaticals, and conferences. We provide various chaplaincies, supply clergy, liturgical consultants, worship leadership and speakers for conferences.
